Phase 1: Quick Fixes & Cleanup
14/17 Done▼
✓
Title tags + meta descriptions (all 17 pages)
Google was showing "DSK Fab" as the title for every page. Now each page has a unique title with the service name + "Melbourne" or "Cranbourne West" so people searching for steel fabrication in the area actually see relevant results.
Before
<title>DSK Fab</title>
After
<title>Steel Fabrication Cranbourne West -- Earthmoving Repairs | DSK Fab</title>
✓
Schema switched to LocalBusiness
The behind-the-scenes code was telling Google this is a generic "Organization" -- not a local business with a physical workshop. Now Google knows DSK Fab is a local steel fabricator in Cranbourne West with specific opening hours and a service area.
Before
@type: Organization
After
@type: LocalBusiness + geo coordinates, opening hours, service areas, description
✓
Email link fixed
The email displayed as admin@dskfab.com.au but when someone clicked it, their email opened addressed to dskfab@hotmail.com instead. Now both match.
Before
mailto:dskfab@hotmail.com
After
mailto:admin@dskfab.com.au
✓
Instagram link fixed to HTTPS
The Instagram icon in the footer was linking via http:// (insecure). Updated to the full secure URL.
✓
Copyright updated to 2026
Footer still said 2024. Small thing but looks outdated to visitors.
✓
"Related ServicesServices" typo fixed (4 pages)
The heading "Related Services" had "Services" duplicated on the Earthmoving, Structural Steel, General Steel, and Plasma Cutting pages. Fixed all four.
✓
Plasma Cutting services list corrected
The "Services Include" section on the Plasma Cutting page listed gates, handrails, and fencing -- copy-pasted from the General Steel page by accident. Replaced with actual plasma cutting services: custom shapes, base plates, signage, replacement parts.
✓
Logo alt text added
The logo image had no alt text (empty). Google uses alt text to understand images. Now set to "DSK Fab - Steel Fabrication Cranbourne West".
✓
Hello World test post deleted
WordPress creates a default "Hello World" post on every new install. It was still live and being submitted to Google via the sitemap. Deleted.
✓
Gallery page URL renamed
The gallery page URL was /grader-blades/ which made no sense. Renamed to /our-work/ to match what the page actually is.
✓
GA4 confirmed active
There was no Google Analytics tracking on the site at all -- zero visibility into traffic. GA4 is now installed (GT-TNH3KGWF via Site Kit).
✓
Schema address standardised
The address in the schema code said "8/42 Paramount Bvd" -- abbreviated and inconsistent with the footer. Updated to "Factory 8, 42 Paramount Boulevard" to match everywhere.
✓
WP Super Cache installed
The site had no caching at all -- every visitor hit the server fresh. Caching serves pre-built pages to visitors, which speeds up load times significantly.
✓
Schema: geo coordinates + description added
Added latitude/longitude coordinates and a business description to the schema so Google Maps and local search can pinpoint the workshop location precisely.
⋯
Phone number in header/footer
Needs a new widget added to the Elementor header template. Deferred to avoid accidentally breaking the header layout.
⋯
robots.txt cleanup
The hosting control panel (HestiaCP) manages robots.txt, and Rank Math free can't override it. Not critical for a small site.
⋯
301 redirect /grader-blades/ to /our-work/
Rank Math Redirections module isn't available in the free version. WordPress auto-redirects to a portfolio item with the same slug, which is OK for now.
Phase 2: New Page Content
3/13 Done▼
✓
Homepage
Updated the H1 to include "Cranbourne West", rewrote the about section with location signals and Daniel's name, updated service card descriptions to be more specific, and refreshed the CTA.
✓
About Us
Rewrote the company history and founder sections to mention Cranbourne West, Melbourne's south-east, the workshop address, and the range of services. Gives Google clear location signals.
✓
Earthmoving Equipment & Repairs
Rewrote the entire page with proper location mentions and added internal links to the Smudge Bars, Plasma Cutting, and Structural Steel pages. Internal links help Google understand how the services connect and pass authority between pages.
•

Phase 3: Schema + FAQs + Technical
Coming Up▼
•
Add FAQ sections to each service page
FAQ sections target the questions people actually ask -- "how much does a gate cost?", "how long does a repair take?". Google can show these as expandable results in search.
•
Add Service schema to each service page
Tells Google specifically what service each page is about, linked back to the DSK Fab business entity.
•
Enable breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs help users navigate and give Google another signal about how the site is structured.
•
Fix image alt text sitewide
Most images have empty alt text. Adding descriptive alt text helps Google understand the images and improves accessibility.
Phase 4: Business Directory Listings
Coming Up▼
•
Register on 11 business directories
DSK Fab isn't listed on any major Australian business directory right now. Competitors like Bold Metals and Continental Steel show up across Yellow Pages, HiPages, TrueLocal, etc. Getting listed means more places for people to find you, and it tells Google the business is legitimate and established.

Performance
In Progress▼
✓
WP Super Cache installed and active
The site had no caching -- every visitor made the server build the page from scratch. Caching stores pre-built versions so pages load much faster for visitors.
•
Compress hero images
The biggest speed issue is the hero image on mobile (10.4s to load the largest content). Compressing and properly sizing images will cut this significantly.
•
Enable Elementor performance experiments
Elementor has built-in speed features that reduce unused CSS and JavaScript. Currently not enabled.
