DSK Fab -- Website Content & Cleanup

Here's what I'm planning to update on the site | Lawrence

Had a look through the site and there's a few things I want to tidy up -- fresh content on the service pages, fix a couple of small bugs, and get the behind-the-scenes stuff (titles, descriptions, schema) working properly so Google can find you. Here's what each change looks like.

How Your Pages Show Up in Google

The title tag is what people see as the blue clickable link in Google search results. Right now most of yours are pretty generic -- here's how I'd update them so people searching for steel fab in your area actually find you.

Homepage

NOW
<title>DSK Fab</title>

Now someone searching "steel fabrication Cranbourne" sees exactly what you do and where you are.

Earthmoving Equipment & Repairs

Doesn't mention Melbourne -- misses anyone searching by location.

Structural Steel Fabrication

Update
NOW

Gates

Update
NOW
<title>Gates - DSK Fab</title>

Just says "Gates" -- doesn't tell anyone it's steel, custom, or in Melbourne.

UPDATED

Now someone Googling "custom steel gates Melbourne" has a reason to click.

New Content for Your Service Pages

Most pages currently have one short paragraph. I've written proper content for each service -- explains what you do, who it's for, and where you're based. Here's a taste of each one.

Earthmoving Equipment & Repairs

Expanding
WHAT'S THERE NOW

Earthmoving equipment is vital to the construction and mining industries, and keeping it in peak condition is crucial for minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. At DSK Fab, we offer specialized repair services for all types of earthmoving machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, and loaders.

That's basically it -- one paragraph. Doesn't say where you are or what equipment you work on.

WHAT I'LL PUT IN
~900 words

H1: Earthmoving Equipment Repairs in Melbourne

Earthmoving equipment is the backbone of construction, mining, and civil works across Melbourne and Victoria. When your machinery breaks down or components wear out, you need a fabrication workshop that understands earthmoving equipment inside and out. DSK Fab provides specialist earthmoving equipment repair and fabrication services from our Cranbourne West workshop...

Sections include:

  • Repair Services (bucket repairs, frame/boom, hardfacing, pin/bush, undercarriage, hydraulic)
  • Custom Attachments and Parts
  • Smudge Bars and Grading Attachments
  • Spare Parts and Wear Components
  • Why Operators Choose DSK Fab
  • Service Area (Cranbourne, Dandenong, Berwick, etc.)

Gates

Expanding
WHAT'S THERE NOW

Enhance your property's security and style with DSK FAB Pty Ltd's durable steel gates. We create custom-made gates that are built to withstand Australia's harsh conditions while adding a touch of sophistication to your space.

One paragraph for the whole page. Doesn't mention gate types, materials, or your area.

WHAT I'LL PUT IN
~450 words

H1: Custom Steel Gates in Melbourne

DSK Fab designs and fabricates custom steel gates for residential, commercial, and industrial properties across Melbourne's south-east...

Sections include:

  • Gate Types (swing, sliding, pedestrian, security, farm)
  • Design and Customisation
  • Built for Australian Conditions (finishes)
  • Measurement and Installation (service area)

Plasma Cutting

Fixing
WHAT'S THERE NOW

Has a "Services Include" section that lists: Custom Steel Gates, Handrails for Residential and Commercial Properties, Metal Fencing and Security Bars, General Metal Fabrication and Repairs.

This got copy-pasted from the General Steel page by accident -- gates and handrails aren't plasma cutting services. I'll fix this with proper content.

WHAT I'LL PUT IN
~800 words

H1: Plasma Cutting Services in Melbourne

Covers: materials (2mm-32mm), applications (shapes, signage, brackets), precision specs, ordering process, combined services (cut+bend, cut+weld), pricing guide.

What this means

Right now the service pages average about 100 words each -- basically a sentence or two. I'll bring them up to 500-900 words each with proper descriptions of what you do, the types of work you handle, and where you're based. Nothing fluffy -- just the stuff a potential customer wants to know before they pick up the phone.

Behind the Scenes Code

This is invisible code that tells Google what your business is, where it is, and what services you offer. You don't see it on the site but Google reads it. I'll update this through Rank Math (your SEO plugin).

Homepage Schema

Updating
CURRENT SCHEMA
{ "@type": "Organization", "name": "DSK FAB Pty Ltd", "email": "admin@dskfab.com.au", "telephone": "0478 026 010" }

Currently set as a generic "Organization" -- Google doesn't know you're a local business with a physical workshop.

RECOMMENDED SCHEMA
{ "@type": "LocalBusiness", "name": "DSK Fab Pty Ltd", "telephone": "+61478026010", "address": { ... full PostalAddress }, "geo": { lat/lng coordinates }, "openingHoursSpecification": [...], "areaServed": [ "Cranbourne West", "Dandenong", "Berwick", ... ], "hasOfferCatalog": { 5 services with URLs } }

Switching to "LocalBusiness" tells Google you're a real workshop in Cranbourne West with specific opening hours, services, and a service area. This helps you show up in local search results and Google Maps.

Service Pages Schema

Adding
NOW

None of the service pages tell Google what specific service they're about.

UPDATED
{ "@type": "Service", "name": "Earthmoving Equipment Repairs", "provider": { "@type": "LocalBusiness", "name": "DSK Fab Pty Ltd" }, "areaServed": { 50km radius } }

Each service page will tell Google exactly what service it's about and that DSK Fab provides it from Cranbourne West.

FAQ Schema

Adding
NOW

Nothing here yet.

UPDATED
{ "@type": "FAQPage", "mainEntity": [ { "@type": "Question", "name": "How long does an earthmoving repair take?", "acceptedAnswer": { ... } }, ...5-6 questions per page ] }

Adding FAQs with this code means Google can show your answers directly in search results as expandable dropdowns -- gives you more real estate on the page.

FAQ Sections for Each Service

I'll add a FAQ section to each service page answering the questions people actually ask -- "how long does it take?", "how much does a gate cost?", "do you deliver?", etc. Click to expand for examples.

Earthmoving Equipment & Repairs -- FAQs

What types of earthmoving equipment do you repair?
We repair excavators, loaders, skid steers, bulldozers, graders, and their attachments. This includes bucket repairs, frame and boom repairs, hardfacing, pin and bush replacement, and custom fabrication work. We work on all major brands including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Kobelco, Case, and Kubota.
How long does an earthmoving equipment repair typically take?
Most repairs are completed within 2-5 business days depending on the scope of work. Simple repairs like crack welding or tooth replacement can often be done within 1-2 days. Full bucket rebuilds or major structural repairs may take longer. We prioritise fast turnaround because we understand downtime costs money.
Do you sell earthmoving spare parts?
Yes, we stock bucket teeth, ripper teeth, cutting edges, wear strips, pins, and bolts. If we do not have a specific part in stock, we can usually source or fabricate it within a few days.
What is hardfacing and when do I need it?
Hardfacing is a welding process that applies a wear-resistant overlay to surfaces that experience high abrasion, such as bucket lips, cutting edges, and ripper shanks. It significantly extends component life and is recommended when you notice accelerated wear on your attachments.
Do you build custom attachments?
Yes, we design and fabricate custom excavator buckets, smudge bars, ripper attachments, and other earthmoving accessories. We work with you to design attachments that suit your specific machine and application.

General Steel Fabrication -- FAQs

How much does a custom steel gate cost?
Gate pricing depends on size, style, and finish. A simple single swing gate starts from around $800-$1,200 plus installation, while larger automated sliding gates or ornamental designs will be higher. Contact us with your requirements for an accurate quote.
Do you install what you fabricate?
Yes, we handle installation across Melbourne's south-east for gates, handrails, fences, and other products. We measure onsite, fabricate in our workshop, and return to install.
Do your handrails comply with Australian Standards?
Yes, all our handrails are designed and fabricated to comply with AS 1170.1 and the National Construction Code requirements for height, loading, and opening sizes.
